Gertrude “Gertie” Kuznicki
Gertrude “Gertie” Kuznicki, 86, of Rogers City passed away peacefully May 8, 2026, at Medilodge in Rogers City.
She was born February 26, 1940, in Krakow Township to Leo and Clara (Chrzan) Szatkowski.
On January 16, 1960, she married Eugene Kuznicki at St. Casimir Catholic Church. She was employed at the Rogers City Hospital as a cook until the hospital closed. Gertie was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed walking, cooking all holiday meals, baking, card club with her friends and playing cards.
Gertie is survived by four sons, Eugene Jr. of Rogers City, Jeffry Sr. (Irene) of Hawks, Calvin (Jennifer) of Hawks and Toby Sr. of Hawks; nine grandchildren, Samantha, Stephanie, Jeffry Jr., Erika, Erin, Vincent, Veronica, Toby Jr. and Clara; five great-grandchildren, Mya, Jonathan Jr., Madelyn, Zane and Miah; a brother, James (Barb) Szatkowski; and two sisters, Virginia Hlavacs and Ann Smigelski.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; an infant daughter, Connie; three brothers, Julian (Pat), Alphonse (Barb) and Hank (Ann); a sister, Sally (Sylvester) Delitka; and two brothers-in-law, Joh
Friends may visit at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Friday, May 15, from 10 a.m. through time of Mass for her and Gene at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Don Geyman Officiating. The Daughter’s of Isabella will lead the Rosary in the front of church beginning at 10 a.m.
Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Catholic School’s Angel Fund in memory of Gertie Kuznicki.
