David “Dave” Baird Jacobs

David “Dave” Baird Jacobs, 85, passed away peacefully February 9, 2026, surrounded by family and friends at Brookdale Memory Care in Oro Valley, Arizona. 

Born in Wayne, Dave graduated from Wayne Memorial High School, served in the Air Force, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University. He spent his career teaching elementary and middle school students in Pontiac and Holly. 

Dave loved the outdoors, travel and sports. He spent many summers camping with his family, enjoyed time in Rogers City and stayed active throughout his life through softball, golf, running, tennis, swimming and motorcycle rides through southern Arizona. In Green Valley, he earned medals in Senior Masters’ swimming. 

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Don Jacobs; his brother Don; his brother-in-law, Edward; his in-laws, Edward and Eleanore

Schultz; and his infant granddaughter, Emily. 

He is survived by his son, Bob and daughter-in-law Brandy; grandchildren, Nick, Andrew, Matthew and Lauren; his former wife, Jane Jacobs; and his friend, Jean Gifford. 

Services will be held Thursday, August 13, at 1:30 p.m. at Rogers City Memorial Park Cemetery.
