Wrestlers 3-2 after defeating Wildcats Thursday at RCHS
The Hurons improved to 3-2 after a match against Alpena at home Thursday. Details will be coming in next week’s Advance and to PIAdvance.com. It was the last home action for the Rogers City wrestlers until the Bill Barrett Memorial January 11.
Voiding three weight classes, Rogers City was able to defeat Sault Ste. Marie 51-30 Tuesday but lost to Marquette 45-36.
?We knew coming if we had any injuries or if any guys were going to be missing time, we were going to be hurting, and that was pretty much the case (Tuesday),? said coach Pat Lamb.
?We have some suspensions and injuries, and we can?t afford that with the makeup of our team right now. We don?t have a lot of depth,? he said.
If the Hurons had wrestled with their regular starting lineup, Lamb believes they would have won both matches.
?Our kids wrestled their best,? said Lamb. ?We came out a little flat against Marquette and that?s the way it goes.?
The Hurons will participate in the St. Ignace Invitational Saturday.
AGAINST MARQUETTE Rogers City lost its first four matches with two voids and two pins but sophomore captain Chris Rhode pinned his opponent in 2:51 and the Hurons had their first points.
