Kayak boat launch vessel ready for voyage
The new kayak boat launch vessel, Kayak Express fabricated by Moran Iron Works has been put to the test off the shores of Rogers City. It’s all to ensure the final product is safe and seaworthy. The boat features a unique design to allow easy launch of kayaks for a smoother experience for their clients.
“Moran has asked me to take it through sea trials before handing it over to the customer,” said Bill Shepler, who is a member of the Shepler family that shuttles people over to Mackinac Island.
It was launched at the Port of Calcite June 20 and is headed to its new port of call by the weekend. It was docked at the Rogers City Marina Tuesday through Thursday with plans to begin the journey to Munising.
