Stanley A. Huffman
Stanley A. Huffman, 76, of Onaway, died at McLaren Northern Michigan hospital in Petoskey Sunday, July 14, 2019. The son of Charles and Marguerite (Wilton) Huffman, Stan was born in Forest Township and lived in the Onaway area when he was a boy. His family moved to southern Michigan to find work but returned often to Onaway for visits.
On August 11, 1963 Stanley married Lucille Major at the Guardian Angel Church in Clawson. They made their home in Madison Heights where they raised their family.
Working for many years at the Ford Motor Company, Stanley was employed as a grinder and quality control inspector at the Sterling Axle Plant in Sterling Heights.
After moving away so many years before and enjoying many visits, as well as memorable camping trips to Onaway with Lucille and their children, Stan returned to his boyhood home upon retiring from Ford. An avid outdoorsman, Stan enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, but his favorite pastime was upland game bird hunting and his bird dogs.
Stan also had a passion for all types of firearms, in particular, any long gun manufactured by Henry Repeating Arms. When his ailing health no longer allowed him to hunt, Stan was content to feed and watch the deer as they came into his yard. Truly a
Surviving Stanley are his son and daughter, Paul (Lisa) Huffman of Honor and Paula Morrison of Madison Heights; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dave (Becky) Huffman of Onaway; a sister, Bonnie Juel of Harrison; and many nieces and nephews. Stan was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lucille Huffman, in 2016; a daughter, Ann Marie Derry; a son, Lonie Huffman; a brother, Raymond Huffman; and his parents.
