Paul loved northern Michigan and so he returned to Cheboygan and began his career in banking with First of America Bank where he worked as a manager in Cheboygan, then Indian River and finally in the St. Ignace branches. Due to an accident which resulted in paralysis in 1976, Paul was confined to a wheelchair and decided to retire from First of America. However, his business skills were requested at Manning Northern Tire where he helped set up their business office and computer systems. After again retiring, Paul was asked by his brother Joe to help at BKC Insurance Services in the employer benefits service area in which he performed admirably for many years. Paul was set to retire in the next couple of months when his sudden passing occurred  Monday July 8, 2019.

Paul was very active in the local communities and loved to help kids discover the passion for shooting and hunting that he so loved. He was active in the Cheboygan Sportsmen’s Club, the local chapter of the National Rifle Association (NRA), Concealed Pistol License instructional classes, hunters’ safety classes and much more.  Paul was injured in a gun accident years before and always made a great impression on kids enrolled in the hunters’ safety classes, reminding them of what can happen when guns aren’t used correctly. He was very generous in his giving and will be remembered by friends and family as always willing to help out, even when his body didn’t want to. He never complained about his pain nor about the hand that life dealt him.

Paul will be sadly missed by his many friends and co-workers as well as his mom, Sandy Breed  of Millersburg; his older brother, Vic, wife, Alene, sons, Sam and John of Issaquah, Washington; his brother, Joe and wife, Teresa of Cheboygan; his brother, Matt, and wife, Christine of Petoskey, their son Jake of Bend, Oregon, their son, Nick, and wife, Katelynn and children Liam and Clare, of Atlanta; his brother, Pete, and wife, Jenny and their sons, Ben and Marcus of San Antonio, Texas; and a sister, Marie and husband, Rick of Sauk City, Wisconsin. He was adored by his nephews and doted on them. His dog, Mocha, was a big part of his life as well and Paul spent as much time as he could with her. He was preceded in death by his dad, Bill on this same date one year ago. Paul’s family will recei

ve friends at the Chagnon Funeral Home Friday July 26, from 4 – 8 p.m. with a rosary service beginning at 7 p.m.  Paul’s funeral Mass will be from St. Paul Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Saturday July 27, 2019, with the Rev. Patrick Maher officiating.  Paul’s final resting place will be with his dad at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Ocqueoc. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the hunters’ safety program at the Cheboygan Sportsmen’s Club or to the NRA Defense Fund.
