A homemaker and mother, Arla also worked as a waitress and bartender. It was while waitressing at Lorenzo’s that she met Clifford Gable. Clifford visited the restaurant frequently so he could see Arla, quite often teasing and kidding around with her.  Their friendship grew and Arla knew in her heart she had found her soul mate.  Arla and Clifford were married October 16, 1990 at their home on Black Lake and were blessed with 18 years of marriage when Cliff died in 2008.

Arla was skilled in needlepoint, enjoyed crocheting and knitting and loved to bake. Her fresh-baked bread was wonderful and her homemade cinnamon rolls were even better. There was nothing like having a visit with Arla over a cup of coffee and one of her cinnamon rolls.  She was passionate about horses, loved riding and had great love and admiration for the beautiful animals.  An avid deer hunter, Arla quite often out-hunted the guys and bagged the bigger buck. She was outgoing and friendly and seemed to know everyone on Black Lake. Arla enjoyed helping her family, friends, and neighbors and when presented with any challenge, would ponder it until she was able to come to a solution. Full of energy, she was known to be feisty, a little bit sassy and a lot of fun.

Surviving Arla are her children, Scott Bishop (Judy Tribisondi), Kathy Johnston and Jesse Reutter, all of Onaway; stepdaughter, Karen (Kevin) Breslin of Lake Orion; four grandchildren; and two great-grand

children. Arla also leaves her mother, Donna Camp, of Tower; sisters, Sue (Harry) Hyde and Holly (Tom) Bischoff, both of Onaway, Ann (Dean) Dittmar of Ocqueoc, and Paula (Richard) Guajardo of Grand Ledge; brothers, Darrel (Diane) Camp of Cheboygan and Zane (Pam) Camp of Mobile, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Barb Fournier and Marge Korzeniewski; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Arla was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in 2008; a brother, Calvin Camp; a sister, Shelly Hyde; a son-in-law, Dean Johnston; a stepson, Steve Gable; brother-in-law, Fred Gable; and parents, Lyle and Alice Camp.

Visitation was Tuesday, October 22, at the Chagnon Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at the funeral home Wednesday.  Arla’s brother-in-law, Elder Harry Hyde, officiated.  Arla’s final resting place will be in Tower at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Please consider a donation in memory of Arla to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Onaway Goodfellows or the Onaway Ambulance.
