A very smart and savvy business man, Tex owned a canoe manufacturing business for many years. After retiring in 1984, he and Marjorie moved to Onaway to enjoy their retirement years. Always together, Tex and Marjorie were avid hunters and fishermen. They traveled extensively for hunting and enjoyed many memorable hunts in Wyoming and Iowa. They enjoyed going to the casino and rarely missed bingo. They stuck to their schedule and every Monday set-off for Cheboygan to play bingo and go out for dinner. Blessed with the gift for gab, Tex was a great conversationalist. Friendly and outgoing, Tex talked to everyone and was known to tell a story or two. An American Indian with ties to one of the Oklahoma tribes, he was proud of his Native American heritage. Tex Hinson was a man with a robust personality and great love for his family. He will be sadly missed and always remembered.
