Gerald Victor Klee

Gerald Victor Klee passed away in his sleep at his home Wednesday, February 26, 2020. Gerald was born March 29, 1930 in Rogers City, the only son of Victor and Theresa (Paull) Klee and was raised in a loving home with his seven sisters. 

Gerald graduated from Rogers City High School in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in May of 1949 and served two tours in Korea during the Korean War. As a corporal he received an honorable discharge in 1952 and earned six medals for his service. 

He attended Northeastern School of Commerce in Bay City and graduated from a two-year business administration program. He was employed at Bay City Chevrolet and then joined the Dow Chemical Company in 1956 and held various positions in the Midland plant over his 30-year career with Dow, retiring as an office supervisor in 1986. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Saginaw River and Rogers City during his retirement and spending time with his grandsons. He also loved playing cards with his family at deer camp. 

On May 4, 1957 he was joined in marriage to his wife Helen who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter, Cynthi

a (Ken) Soney; a son, Steve (Michelle) Klee; grandsons, Kefir Klee and Knightley Klee; granddog, Brownie; and his special friends, Dusty and Kathy Bailey. Surviving sisters are Rosalie Taylor, Norma Hadley, Carol Shay and Nancy Urlaub and brother-in-law, William Shay; and a special nephew and friend, DuWayne Schuler. 

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marjorie Schuler, Alice Clifton, Ardis Bruning; brothers-in-law, Keith Schuler, Harry (Buck) Clifton, Donald Bruning, Richard Taylor, Wellard Hadley and Gerald Urlaub; and nieces and nephews.

At the request of Mr. Klee cremation has taken place. A Memorial Liturgy will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Corpus Christi Parish (1008 S. Wenona St., Bay City, MI  48706). Friends may visit at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Parish or St. John Lutheran Church in Rogers City.
