James “Jim” Anthony Polluch

James “Jim” Anthony Polluch, 60, of Canadian Lakes passed away suddenly Thursday, August 13, 2020.

James Anthony Polluch was born in Alpena July 22, 1960 to Isidore and Virginia (Kuznicki) Polluch. Jim graduated from Alpena High School in 1978 and continued his education in maritime engineering. In 1980, he began his shipping career on a research vessel for MAR and later sailed for various companies and spent 30 years sailing for American Steamship. He was a licensed chief engineer and retired in 2016 after suffering a stroke.

On August 22, 1986, he married Lace D. Lasecki in Alpena.  They lived in Alpena until 2015 when they moved to Grand Rapids and in 2018, they settled in their retirement home in Canadian Lakes. Jim enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family, building things, doing home improvements and yard work. He loved volunteering for Hunters’ Harvest. He also volunteered for the neighborhood watch and yard waste.

One of his favorite things was starting his morning ride in his golf cart with his coffee and his beloved dog Sookie, checking out the “hood.”

Surviving are his wife, Lace; a daughter, Jaime Polluch; a son, Shawn Polluch; his mother, Jeanne; a sister, Yvonne (Jim) Eyk; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Isidore; brothers, Steven and Michael.

Memorial visitation for Jim will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home today (Thursday, August 20) from 2 p.m. until the time of his memorial service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Joseph Graff officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hunters’ Harvest of Alpena, Huron Humane Society or Alpena Salvation Army.
