Genowefa “Jenny” Kurek
Genowefa “Jenny” Kurek, 93, of Alpena passed away peacefully at home August 12, 2020.
She was born February 10, 1927 in Poland to Stanislaw and Feliksa (Ludwiniak) Bereda.
Her life in Poland was spent raising her family and working on the family farm. Jenny moved to the United States in 1998 and served as the rectory housekeeper and cook at St. Casimir Parish until her brother, the Rev. Stan Bereda retired from active ministry. Jenny’s retirement years were spent in Alpena with her brother.
She is survived by her brother, the Rev. Stan Bereda of Alpena; a niece and nephews.
Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Franciszek; a son, Sylwester; a sister, Krystyna; and a brother, Henryk.
Visitation was at St. Casimir Catholic Church Saturday through the time of Mass with the Revs. Stan Bereda, Arthur Duchnowicz and Joe Muszkiewicz concelebrating.
Burial followed at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Casimir Parish in Posen in loving memory of Genowefa Kurek.
