Jim Suchey

I, Jim Suchey, would like to let you all know that on Thursday, January 7, 2021 I passed away from a heart attack in my beautiful northern Michigan but I was doing what I loved and have no regrets in my life.  I did it my way.  I want to say to all my family and friends thank you for the music. I have truly enjoyed being in my family band, “Judy and Her Suchey Brothers” and then in my own two-man band, “Takin’ You Back.”  I have lived my life doing what I love – music, hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening, the camp cook, and cooking for all my friends and family.  And for those of you who needed an extra hand, I was your guy. Please don’t cry, just play a song, spend more time with your family, and celebrate my life.

Sincerely, Jim

We, the family of Jim, want you to know he was preceded in death by an infant sister; his father, Dr. William V. Suchey; and his brother, Thomas Suchey. The family Jim leaves includes his mother, Lillian Sophie Suchey of Alpena; his brothers, Bill (Lori) of Missouri, Bob (Linda) of Vanderbilt and Mike (Christine) of Alpena; a sister, Judy (Jacek) Szydlo of Hillman; the love of his life, “his woman,” Michelle Stabinski of Millersburg; and many nieces and nephews, as well as Steve Clements of Vanderbilt and Steve Gwost of Lansing, whom Jim always joked were brothers from another mother but were so close he considered them his brothers.  We will honor Jim privately at this time but are planning at a later date for a polka dance tribute to honor and celebrate Jim’s life.  Those planning an expression of sympathy please make a donation to The Sportsmen’s Alliance at www.sportsmensalliance.org/donate/.  Arrangements were in care of Chagnon Funeral Home.
