Bernice Romel

Bernice Romel, 93, of Posen passed away April 29, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center in Alpena.

She was born December 30, 1927 in Pulawski Township to Francis and Frances (Skowronek) Mulka.

Bernice graduated from St. Casimir Catholic School. On June 7, 1947 she married Leo Romel at St. Casimir Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, spending time outdoors, spending time with her grandchildren, coloring in the activities room at Medilodge and visiting with family and friends.

Bernice was very proud of her Polish heritage, teaching words and phrases to those she cared about.

She is survived by 11 children, Elaine (James) Filipiak of Durand, Leo (Denyce) Romel of Metz, Arthur Romel of Bay City, Joe (Cindy) Romel of Posen, Alvin (Denice) Romel of Posen, Ernie (Terri) Romel of Metz, Louise (John) Ensink of Canadian Lakes, Pete (Shirley) Romel of West Seneca, New York, Joyce Bartlett of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Tim (Yolanda) Romel of Onaway and Frank (Lori) Romel of Posen; 41 grandchildren; 54 plus great-grandchildren; three sisters, Janet Sheerin of Rochester, Theresa Barton of Owosso and Evelyn Johnson of Thousand Oaks, California; and a brother, Julian (Carol) Mulka of Posen.

e was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; four children James, Eileen, Mark and Stanley; and 10 siblings, Rose, Casimir, Harriette, Josephine, Lucille, Leonard, Edward, Florence, Frances and Frank.

Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Monday, May 3, where the Rosary Sodality led the rosary followed by the parish prayer service. Visitation resumed Tuesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church until time of Mass with the Rev. Stan Bereda officiating.

Burial followed at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Rogers City Medilodge “Activities Room” in memory of Bernice Romel.
