Vincent “Vince” Joseph Turcotte Jr., M.D.

Vincent “Vince” Joseph Turcotte Jr., M.D., died peacefully at the age of 90 April 28, 2021 in Grand Rapids. Vince was born June 5, 1930, in Detroit to Margaret Campau Meldrum and Vincent Joseph Turcotte Sr., M.D.

Dr.Turcotte Jr. began his private practice in cardiology and Internal Medicine in Grand Rapids in 1963. Following his long and successful career as a clinical cardiologist, Dr. Turcotte Jr. went on to serve as medical director of Medical Staff Quality Improvement at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center, Grand Rapids, from 1993-2000.

Vince spent his summers in Presque Isle from the time he was 4 years old. It was one of his favorite places and he relished his time there. 

In his youth, he had many friends in the Grand Lake area and loved to spend time with them. 

He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father and brother, Jerry. During his working years, he traveled from Grand Rapids to visit his parents for long weekends at the family cottage on the Presque Isle peninsula. When he retired, he and his wife Nancy spent several weeks together at the cottage every year, where they were often visited by their children and grandchildren.

Vince was the devoted husband of the late Nancy H. Turcotte (1931-2015); loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather of five children, Stephen Alan (Jane Stevens), Susan Grace (James P. McFadden), Vincent Joseph III, Peter James (Richard L. Randall) and Daniel Louis; 10 grandchildren, Sara N. James, John S. Turcotte, Anne S. Turcotte, James V. McFadden (Noriko Kakihara), Stephen P. McFadden, Peter C. Turcotte, Daniel P. Turcotte, Lucas A. Turcotte, Jack A. Turcotte and Joseph V. Turcotte (Kalli Barrone); and four great-gr

andchildren, Maya N. James, Oliver M. James, Sophie R. McFadden and James K. McFadden; and a brother of the late Jeremiah “Jerry” G. Turcotte, M.D. (1933-2020) (Claire L.).  

A memorial Mass will be held September 2, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Grand Rapids, with a reception to follow, location to be announced.
