Sylvester “Chet” Kuchinski

Sylvester “Chet” Kuchinski left this world to be at peace with his heavenly Father Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at home, looking out over his beloved Grand Lake. 

He was born December 29, 1926 in Rogers City to Vincent and Yanina Kuchinski. He married the love of his life, Althea Kuchinski (Pollock) June 2, 1951. Together they raised a family of seven children who loved him dearly. 

Surviving

are daughters, Katharine McVeety, Kristine Penn (Jim), Susan Byelich and Lorraine Lewandowski (Fred); and two sons, Robert “Mike” Kuchinski and Joseph Kuchinski (Theresa). 

Preceding him in death were his loving wife, Althea; a daughter, Mary Jane Kaszubowski (Joe); and two sons-in-law, John McVeety and John Byelich. 

Sylvester served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was in the retail business and owned The Center Shop in Rogers City for 29 years with his wife Althea. Sylvester will be sadly missed by his children, 17 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. 

A graveside memorial service is planned for September 24 at the Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rogers City.
