The Nautical Coast Pageant, affiliated with the Nautical City Festival, is looking for candidates to enter the 2023 pageant. Pageant director Milissa Bannon says the pageant is set for July 28 at the Rogers Theater.  A prize of a $2,000 scholarship is awarded to the Miss Nautical Coast, $500 to the first runner-up and $250 to the second runner-up. In addition, the court receives gifts from area merchants who support the pageant.

“We are welcoming young women to participate that are the ages 13 to 15 years old, as of July 1, for the teen pageant and those ages 16 to 20 years old for the miss pageant,” Bannon said.

Miss Nautical Coast 2022 Elizabeth Romel will crown the next queen July 28 at the Rogers City Theater.

The pageant is open to young women who reside in or attend schools in Presque Isle County.

“This program teaches poise, purpose, and builds the pride in those serving the Presque Isle County area. When reflecting, many ladies state their participation in this program impacts them for a lifetime. They speak about how grateful they were to have the opportunity to be involved, the conf

idence they found, and the memorable experiences they carry into adulthood,” said Nicole Bannasch, co-director of the pageant.

Bannon said the pageant will include judging for artwork, a 10-minute personal interview, a 90-second talent presentation, evening gown and onstage question. The court has the honor of leading or participating in many fun events during the Nautical City Festival in August, along with riding on the festival’s float in many area parades, and many other activities throughout the year.
