Neil Ross Hartwick

Neil Ross Hartwick, 71, of Hawks passed away in Midland February 8, 2024.

He was born in Goodrich July 28, 1952 to Thomas and Sylvia (Richards) Hartwick.

Neil graduated from Oxford High School in 1971. He served in the United States Army from October 13, 1971 – October 12, 1973 where he was stationed in Vietnam. Neil was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 274 in Cheboygan, a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 583 in Alpena, a life member of Rogers City Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 607, a member of the Agent Orange Riders Chapter 1 and a member of the Presque Isle County Sportsmen’s Club. He was a certified instructor for hunters safety classes. When Neil wasn’t caring for his mom, before she passed in May of 2006, or providing brotherly love and compassionate care for his sister, Cindy, you could find him riding one of his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Neil was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He included Cindy on their once-a-month camping trips, even during the winter.

He is survived by three siblings, Richard Hartwick of St. Helen, David (Cindy) Hartwick of Lapeer and Valerie (John) Schalk of Rogers City; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Sylvia; a brother, Randy; and a sister, Cynthia “Cindy.”&nb
