Thomas “Tom” Edward Skudlarek

Thomas “Tom” Edward Skudlarek, 60, born May 18, 1963, peacefully passed away January 28, 2024, at his Walnut Group Home in Alpena, surrounded by his loving family and friends. 

Thomas is survived by his sisters, Pamela Lewandowski, Mary (Stephen) Catton, Doris (Paul) Ponik, Teresa (Ronald) Kowalski and Valerie (Gordon) Cordes; sisters-in-law, Rita Skudlarek and Dorothy Skudlarek; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lucy Skudlarek; brothers, Steven, Michael and John; a sister, Lucia Kuel; and a brother-in-law, Stas’ Lewandowski. 

Tom attended Hawks School and graduated from Pied Piper. He actively participated in Special Olympics over the years. Tom received services through Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health (NEMCMH) and found joy in the activities and jobs provided by NEMCMH, North Eastern Rehabilitation and Opportunity Center, and St. Bernard Catholic Church. 

Despite the challenges of cerebral palsy, Tom’s strength and determination allowed him to navigate life with resilience. His spirit inspired everyone around him, and he will be rem

embered for his strength, kindness, and the deep impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him. 

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the wonderful staff at the Walnut Group Home, who went above and beyond to provide Tom with love and care. They are also grateful to his McLaren Hospice staff for their support.
