James “Jim” Joseph Klingshirn

James “Jim” Joseph Klingshirn, 82, of Rogers City passed away peacefully at home July 12, 2024 with his family at his side.

Jim was born in Rogers City April 14, 1942 to Alfred and Anna (Grohowski) Klingshirn.

He attended St. Ignatius Catholic School thru the eighth-grade then graduated from Rogers City High School in 1960. On November 3, 1962 he married Nancy Karsten. In his younger years he coached St. Ignatius basketball and Rogers City Little League. Jim retired from U.S. Steel as a millwright in 1999. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus.

Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons, Karl (Jennie) and Kevin (Pam); grandchildren, Kory, Kaitlin (Andrew) Lalonde and Kody; referred to as “papa GiGi” by his great-granddaughters, Charlotte and Elenior Lalonde; two sisters, Barbara Lamb and Mary (Mike) Witulski; a sister-in-law, Jane Klingshirn; in-laws, Lila Burkness, James (Getz) Karsten, Margaret Carnali, Chet (Brenda) Karsten and Jean (Richard)Warwick; and many  nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Alfred; brothers, Charles and Donald; and a sister, Betty.

Friends may visit at St. Ignatius Catholic Church today (Thursday, July 18) from 10 a.m. through time of his memorial Mass at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Don Geyman officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Michigan or St. Ignatius Catholic School’s Endowment Fund in memory of James Klingshirn.
