Ellen M. Cook

“You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest, most beautiful person I have ever known, but even that is an understatement.”

-F. Scott Fitzgerald

With heavy hearts, we announce that our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Ellen M. Cook, passed away in her home Saturday, November 2, 2024. She was 61.\Ellen was born February 27, 1963, and was raised in Detroit. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Clifford and Delores VanBuskirk, and her brother, Robert (Bob) VanBuskirk.

Ellen was the heart of our home and family. Ellen was married for 40 years (together for almost 50 years) to the love of her life, David Cook, who she precedes in death. Together they raised two children, Clifford Cook (39), and Kierstyn (Travis) Hill (37), in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults.\

※She was a wonderful wife and mother, who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.” As a grandmother to Brielle (10), Olivia (3), Ryder (2) and Leland (3 months) she was fun, loving, playful and affectionate. She thrived on spending time with her children and grandchildren, always making sure everyone’s needs were taken care of and generally spoiling them rotten.\Besides her husband and children,

Ellen is survived by cousins, aunts and many friends.

Ellen was known for her energetic nature, good humor and generous spirit that touched everyone she knew. Ever the life of the party, Ellen was resilient and never let life’s challenges keep her down.

She was an avid gardener and nature lover who enjoyed doing anything outdoors, especially if it was with her husband, dogs, kids and grandkids. “Ellen was the heart and soul of our family, and she will be deeply missed.”

Leaving a legacy through her children and grandchildren, Ellen’s memory will be a guiding star for all who knew her.

In remembrance, a gathering/service will be announced at a later date. Flowers and memorial gifts are welcome but not necessary.
