Germaine M. Brege
Germaine M. Brege, 84, of St. Helen passed away Sunday April 20, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Germaine was born September 20, 1940 in Posen to Victor and Emily (Witucki) Glomski. She married Herbert P. Brege July 6, 1957 in Posen and they had 64 years together before his passing April 28, 2022. Germaine had many jobs in her younger years working at various nursing homes and doing private in-home care for the elderly until an injury led to an early retirement. Germaine then took on one of her best roles of helping care for her grandchildren and the rest of her family.
Her faith was very important to her and while her children were younger, she taught CCD classes at St. Mary Catholic Church in Swartz Creek. In her later years, as a member at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Bridgeport, she enjoyed baking for the church’s bake sales and making food for funeral dinners. She was currently attending St. Helen Catholic Church. Germaine enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting, sending out cards to her friends and family and doing crafts with her children, grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. She loved being outdoors and loved flowers and gardening. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her family. They were her pride and joy. Germaine is survived by her children, Susan (Darwin) Brewer of Millington, Beverly (Rick) Riniolo of Florida, Carol (Edward Taylor) Brege of St. Helen, Randy Brege of Posen, Paul (Elaine) Brege of Florida and Terry Brege of Sault Ste. Marie; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one more coming in October; a sister, Katherine Bruning; plus, many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Victor Glomski Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Patty Brege; and a grandson, Anthony Brewer. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, with the Rev. Jerry Hunko officiating at St. Helen Catholic Church located at 737 N. St Helen Road, St. Helen, Michigan 48656. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
