Captain Robert “Bob” Paul Noffze
Captain Robert “Bob” Paul Noffze, 76, of Rogers City passed away peacefully at home in his sleep June 17, 2026.

He was born July 16, 1949 in Alpena to Robert and Lucille (Kalitta) Noffze.
At age 16 he and two friends from town canoed down the Mississippi River. Bob graduated from Rogers City High School in 1967. In 1972 he was the first class to graduate from the Maritime Academy in Traverse City. On November 28, 1981, he married Carol Link at St. John Lutheran Church in Rogers City. Bob sailed on the Great Lakes from 1972 until his retirement as a captain with Oglebay Norton in the year 2000. Following that retirement he took the position of vice president of operations with Grand River Navigation for many years. Bob was a founding member of Kant Make It Klub. He enjoyed hunting, tractor work, playing on the cribbage league at the Servicemen’s Club, helping people without the need of recognition, and most of all, loving and supporting his family in all of their activities.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; three daughters, Adrianne (Curt) Sandtveit, Jacqueline (John) Supina and Jennifer (Shannen Marciniak) Noffze; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Olivia, Caroline, Penelope, McKinley, Cassie (Tyler) and Courtney (Alex); four great-grandchildren, Remy, Hanley, Waylan and Willow; and a sister, Donna (Linda Neely) Noffze.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille; two sisters, Leah Justice and Rhoda Hunter; and a niece, Amy Hunter.
Visitation was at the Beck Funeral Home Monday, June 22, with a service that evening. Memorial visitation resumed at Peace Lutheran Church Tuesday through time of his memorial service with the Rev. Jonathan Dueker officiating.
Inurnment took place on the family plot at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Maritime Academy in Traverse City or to the family for a charity to be selected later.
