Vikings looking for a few more baskets in the coming year

Posen basketball players need to have shots fall in the new year The Viking basketball players finished the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule with a 1-3 (1-2 in the North Star League) record, after they lost last Friday to Hillman (3-1), 54-36. Posen had a difficult time stopping senior Cory McDonald, plus the Vikings turned the ball over and missed several shots. ?We missed 12 layups,? said coach Ron Misiak. The coach added that it wasn?t one or two players, the shooting ills were running rampant throughout the roster. The score at the end of the first quarter was 12-8, and the Vikings were only down by eight at halftime.

?That?s when the wheels fell of,? said Misiak. Hillman put on a press and McDonald came alive with eight of his game-high 19. Misiak said McDonald not only scored but also passed the ball to the open player on the floor. Hillman and Mio should be the front-runners for the conference championship. Posen lost to Mio by one, three days before the loss to the Tigers.

For the first four games, which is almost at the one-quarter mark of the scheduled 20 games, Misiak gives the players a ?B+? for defense but a ?C? for offense.

Sophomore Aaron Hincka had 12 points, while Matt Ponik, another sophomore, had 13 rebounds. The Vikings will be home against Hale a week from Friday.
