Ronald “Ron” Raymond Piaskowski

Ronald “Ron” Raymond Piaskowski of Posen passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the age of 85 surrounded by his family.

Ron was born August 26, 1933 in Posen to Harry and Leocadia (Pilarski) Piaskowski.

Ron graduated from Posen High School in 1951. As a young man, Ron enlisted in the Army and served in Japan. After returning home, Ron began his 30-year career as a mariner with the Interlake Steamship Company, sailing the Great Lakes as a watchman. Ron will be remembered for his quick wit and generous, loving nature. As a man who enjoyed the outdoors, he spent his time with his many nieces and nephews teaching them the love of hunting and fishing. He spent countless hours at his camp, the Little Creek Club, picking mushrooms, playing cards, hunting and making memories. His memory will be forever cherished in the lives of his family.

Mr. Piaskowski is survived by his sister, Eileen Kuchnicki; his nieces and nephews, Gloria White, Marilyn (Tom) Kaszubowski, Jerry (Linda) Kamysiak, Randy (Jane) Kamysiak, Dan (Diane) Kamysiak, Lillian (Howard) Johnson, David (Julie) Kamysiak, Laura (Shaun) Smolinski, Bernadette (Curt) Ilg, Lois (Stephen Power) Kamysiak, Michelle (Dave) Smith, Mary (Paul) Kuehl, Carleen Wagner, Kathleen Mudry and Marcie (Geoff) Shaughnessy; great-nieces and nephews, Dawn Styma, Jennifer Shinska, Wendy Fernandez, R.J. White, Laura Gluhanich, Keith Kamysiak, Steven Kamysiak, Dustin Zajkowski, Jordan Kamysiak, Lauren Johnson, Ashley Smith and Zakary Smith; great-great-nieces and nephews, Chelsea Styma, Olivia Styma, Evan Shinska, Abby Shinska, Cassandra Fernandez, Madeline Fernandez, Ben Gluhanich, Alyssa Gluhanich, Caden Smith and Cole Smith; dear friend and caregiver, Angie Haske of Rogers City; and good friend, Julian Smarzlik.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mayvine Kamysiak; brothers-in-law, Elmer Kamysiak and Jim Kuchnicki; niece, Karen Szymanski; and nephew-in-law, Ron White.

Friends may visit at St. Casimir Catholic Church Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m. through time of his Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating. Posen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7804 will accord military honors following the service.

Inurnment will follow at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Hospice Compassus, 12480 State St., Atlanta, Michigan 49709, in Ron’s memory.
