John G. Hanel

John G. Hanel, 92, of Afton, died at Aspen Ridge Retirement Village in Gaylord Saturday, March 11, 2023. 

He is survived by his sons, Jeff of Traverse City, Steve (Judy) of Afton and Matt (Debra) of Montrose; daughters, Madalynne (David) Thompson of Attica and Julie (Ken) Erway of Montrose; a stepson, Rick Sproule of Cheboygan; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his brother, Harold “Bud” Hanel of Afton; sisters, Carolyn Appleford of Florida and Trudy (Gil) Reynolds of Andrews, North Carolina; as well as many nieces and nephews.
