James “Jim” Robert Smith
James “Jim” Robert Smith, 93, of Huron Beach passed away at home August 21, 2023.
He was born October 21, 1929 in Detroit to Joseph and Mary (Bowman) Smith.
Jim graduated from St. Clair High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps following World War II.
In February 1952 he married Beverly Ann Feltz in Garden City. He and Beverly moved to Huron Beach in 1982 and purchased the Hammond Bay Trading Post. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.
He is survived by three children, Michael T. (Sharon) Smith of Huron Beach; Loriann E. Smith of St. Clair Shores and Alex Smith of Cheboygan; two grandchildren, Matthew Smith and Robert
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Ann Smith; a son, Robert James Smith; a granddaughter, Rachel Wagner; and 11 brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, August 28, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Ocqueoc Township where the Rogers City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 607 will offer a military tribute.
Memorials may be given to McLaren Hospice for the Rogers City Area.
