Posen to host 3-time defending state champion in playoffs

With an exciting finish, the undefeated Posen Vikings topped AuGres (7-2) 46-42 to secure a spot in the MHSAA Division 2, 8-player playoffs. The win is a reward, but the home field advantage will be needed as the three-time defending state champion, Powers North Central (PNC), comes to Posen for a Saturday playoff game.

The PNC Jets had a 41-game winning streak snapped Sept. 22 with a 28-25 loss to Lake Linden-Hubbell (6-3). PNC had won championships in 2020, 2021 and last year with a decisive 66-26 win over Mendon in the state championship game. In 2019, the Jets were 10-0 heading into the state championship game against Pickford, but lost 22-14 to the Panthers. That was their last loss until Sept. 22 of this year.
