Robert “Sid” George Curtis

Robert “Sid” George Curtis, 76, of Mayville, formerly of Hawks, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024 at his home.

Sid was born on April 18, 1948 in Alpena to the late Robert and Laurabell (Nokes) Curtis. He was an amazing softball player and is featured in the Hall of Fame in Presque Isle County. Sid enjoyed hunting, fishing, pool and horseshoes. 

He loved to mow the grass and follow the Detroit Tigers. In Sid’s retirement years, he became a professional bird-watcher. Most of all, he loved his grandkids.

Sid is survived by his children, Jody (Bill) Hawkins and Ray (Tracey) Curtis; grandchildren, Grace Wojtaszek, Hannah (Kraig) Woj

taszek, and Ethan Walt, Garrett Walt, Emma Walt, Billy Hawkins and Danielle Hawkins; great-grandchild, Cameron Kreft; a son-in-law, Rob Wojtaszek; sisters-in-law, Mary (Bill) Jaeger, Sandy Dixon, Irene Jaeger and Debbie Jaeger-Dontje; a brother-in-law, Ron (Joanne) Jaeger; and many nieces and nephews.

Sid was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Curtis, September 1, 2017; a brother, Duane Curtis; and in-laws, Bob Jaeger, Paul Jaeger, Linda Davison and Jim Jaeger.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.
