Alphonsus “Al” J. Haske

Alphonsus “Al” J. Haske, 89, of Taylor passed away peacefully surrounded by family May 14, 2026. 

He was born July 2, 1936 to Joseph J. and Veronica (Woloszyk) Haske in Metz Township. 

He married Lois Hengehold May 22, 1965. He worked for Ford Motor Company as a mechanic for 30 years in Dearborn. After retirement, he spent his summers in Boyne City and wintered in Arizona. Al enjoyed building projects and remodeling the homes that he lived in. He was a very active member of the Northern Michigan Antique Flywheelers (antique tractor club near Boyne Falls). He was known to all as the “Rope Man.” He spent his last five years in Taylor. 

Alphonsus is survived by a son, John (Rina) Haske of Taylor; a daughter, Ann Haske of Florida; and grandchildren, Joseph, Brianna and Isabella Haske, and Veronica Miller. Also surviving are his siblings, Ed Haske of Virginia, Carol (Allie) Chipman of Boyne City and Cathy (Marty) Ste

infeld of California; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Haske of Hawks. Al will also be missed by many nieces and nephews that he enjoyed spending time with. 

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Lois Haske; and a brother, Raymond Haske. 

Friends may visit at St. Dominic Catholic Church Thursday, June 25, from 10 a.m. through time of his memorial Mass at 11 a.m. 

Inurnment will follow at St. Dominic Catholic Cemetery.
